Judging by the latest developments, I’d say Miley Cyrus is taking pleasure in the recent wave of publicity – admittedly rather negative – she’s been receiving ever since she launched her latest single but especially the video to I Can’t Be Tamed. I’d even go as far as to say that it’s as if she’s telling us “in your face, prudes.”
After she’s received some negative criticism for the aforementioned video, which was labeled as racy, and the huge amount of backlash following another video, this one from when she was 16 and doing an inappropriate dance routine with a man nearly thrice her age, and then some more negative criticism for her choice of outfits onstage, here she is during a performance on Britain’s Got Talent where she simulates a kiss with a female dancer.
While this has been done before – Madonna feat. Britney Spears feat. Christina Aguilera during MTV Awards rings a bell? – the 17-year-old’s attempt at a sexy move, not to mention her Lady Gaga-like outfit, torn stockings included, was heavily criticized mostly because of the family audience the show is targeted at. Put in the context of the above-mentioned controversial instances, it does seem like Miley Cyrus is on a mission: making the public accept the fact that she’s growing up. (Photo via Exile Z)
