The bed where one of Hollywood’s golden couples was born is up for auction. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is selling her bedroom bed where Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson auditioned for the roles of Bella and Edward in the famous vampire saga, and she’s giving all the proceeds from the sale to charity.
Back when casting for The Twilight Saga had just begun Hardwicke used her own home as a venue for actors to read the parts of Bella and Edward, in an attempt to find the perfect couple with the perfect chemistry for what would be one of the most unforgettable love stories in the history of vampire movies.
Kristen had already been cast as Bella Swan and Hardwicke was looking for the perfect Edward. After hours of reading with dozens of potential leading men, enter Robert Pattinson, a struggling actor who hadn’t landed a part in months and who was even considering quitting acting altogether. After they did one of the kissing scenes, the undeniable chemistry between Rob and Kristen shattered every doubt the director might have had about casting Rob in the role of brooding 17-year-old vampire Edward Cullen.
Now, over three years later, Hardwicke is planning on putting the piece of furniture up for auction with all the proceeds from the sale set to go to the Step Up Women’s Network if the fans are interested enough in it. But how would they not be interested in a piece of the setting where Rob and Kristen had their first kiss ever? (Photo via Fame Pictures)
