The Emmy Awards, also known as the Emmys, held annually in celebration of the most outstanding accomplishments in the television industry, are considered the equivalent of the Academy Awards (for film), the Grammy Awards (for music) and the Tony Awards (for theatre). Although the awards are presented in various area-specific ceremonies held annually throughout the year, the two most mediated sections are the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ (ATAS) Primetime Emmy Awards and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ (NATAS) Daytime Emmy Awards.
