Taylor Lautner: Jacob Hates and Understands Edward at the Same Time

Twilight star Taylor Lautner says he was glad Jacob and Edward had the chance to connect in the third movie in the franchise, Eclipse, because as much as the two hate each other, they also understand and respect each other and work together for the same goal: to protect the woman they love.
“Jacob hated Edward with a passion, but now they are forced to team up,” Taylor says. “We have a moment where I have to hate and understand him at the same time. It's the first moment where we're able to connect. As much as we hate each other, we kinda respect each other. We go: ‘Let's put this all aside and fight for Bella.’”
This is not the first time Taylor mentions the connection that forms between the two rivals. A while ago, when asked what his favorite scene in Eclipse was, Taylor mentioned the tent scene, not because of the tension between the three characters but because of that particular moment when Jacob and Edward connect.
