When it comes to Twilight promotional merchandise, there’s hardly any store that doesn’t have some – from Barbie dolls and life-size cardboard cutouts to bedsheets and clothing, we’ve seen it all. Still, there are some items that you won’t find in any store and which are worth a fortune if you find one: crew schwag.
For those not in the know, crew schwag means a series of T-shirts, hats, bags and what not that every department working on a movie makes for the other crew members. That is, generally everyone who works on the film will get one of these.
And when it comes to the Twilight movies, not only did the visual effects department keep with the tradition, but they actually broke the pattern and instead of your usual T-shirts and hats they made these pretty little paw prints for New Moon and these little busts with Bella and Jacob for Eclipse.
“We made these really beautiful sculptures,” Tipper Studios’ Eric Leven, who was the visual effects supervisor on Eclipse, tells Collider. “For New Moon we made these things that look like museum pieces of a fossil where a wolf had put a footprint in the sand, which was actually really neat and then for Eclipse we made these little busts of Bella and Jacob that look like bronze statues and mimic the shots in the movie where they were together for the first time.”
Now, before you get all hyped you should know that, not only do these pieces come in limited edition, but they’re not destined to hit the shelves. Like we said, they’re meant for the crew, which means that, unless you know someone who knows someone who worked on the set, chances are you won’t be able to get your hands on them. However, in case you’re at the flea market and you spot anything resembling a paw print or a bronze bust of Bella or Jacob, know that you might have just hit the jackpot.
“We made 100 [statues]. Probably made 100 of the footprints as well,” Leven adds. “Those are the real collectibles. If you can find some of these, they’re pretty neat.”
